ADOPTION OF MACHINE LEARNING AND CLOUD COMPUTINGFOR SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIANAUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY

The increasing demand for eco-friendly practices and sustainable performance in Nigeria’s automobile industry, particularly in the Southwest region, underscores the importance of adopting innovative technological solutions. While global industries have leveraged Industry 4.0 technologies to achieve sustainability and efficiency, their impact in developing economies remains underexplored. This study investigates the effects of Machine Learning and Cloud Computing on sustainable profitability among 29 automobile firms in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States. Employing a mixed-methods design, 224 valid responses from management staff were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression models. The findings revealed that both technologies, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing, have statistically significant positive effects on sustainable profitability. The results underscore the critical role these technologies play in enhancing operational efficiency, waste reduction, environmental monitoring, and decision-making processes. The study concludes that adopting Industry 4.0 technologies is essential for achieving both environmental sustainability and improved organizational performance in Nigeria’s automobile industry. Nigeria invest in AI-driven optimization tools, IoT-based monitoring systems, and Blockchain for supply chain transparency, towards enhancing sustainable performance. Furthermore, government support in the form of infrastructure development, regulatory frameworks, and fiscal incentives is essential to accelerate technological adoption and improve the industry’s global competitiveness
